Young & Young

began in 1998 as a juvenile practice to better serve the children and families they represent, with the goal to assist children and families in the process of reunification and healing. We wanted to provide families in the Omaha area with high quality services. Young & Young are proud recipient’s of the 2015 Omaha NAACP Freedom Fighter award.

WHO IS LASHAWN YOUNG?

LaShawn Young is a partner at Young and Young Attorneys at Law located in Omaha, Nebraska. LaShawn’s practice focuses on family, juvenile and probate law. She has extensive experience in advocating before the juvenile court on legal matters as a Guardian Ad Litem; and Juvenile and Parent Attorney.

She’s provided legal assistance to countless numbers of families seeking to provide permanency for children through guardianships and adoptions. She also assists families seeking to establish custody and/or visitation.

LaShawn also has experience as a former policy attorney with Nebraska Appleseed in the child welfare division. While on staff at Appleseed, she had the opportunity to present at the ABA Children and the Law conference. She’s also served as a hearing officer with the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles and the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission.

Special Skills and Training

LaShawn earned her J.D. at the University of Nebraska in 1995 and her B.A., cum laude, from Wilberforce University in 1992.

WHO IS REGINALD YOUNG?

Reginald Young graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1995. With over 10 years of experience in the legal field, he’s an experienced attorney, administrator and manager, with exceptionally strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Representing and counseling individuals, nonprofit, and for profit organizations, he has experienced tremendous success in the courtroom and the boardroom. Over the years, Reggie has directed and managed a city department staff, made tough budgetary decisions, and have had tremendous success in providing, strengthening, and increasing the availability of department programs and services in the face of financial and political adversity.

As a trained mediator, well versed in alternative dispute resolution methods and techniques, Reggie has mediated discrimination cases and contract compliance cases while serving as the Director of the Human Relations department for the city of Omaha. Currently Reggie is a partner at Young & Young Attorneys at Law.

Special Skills and Training

Mediation Training, May 1998 and January 2003. Received State of Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution training in the theory and practice of conflict resolution techniques, including the mediation process, neutrality, agreement writing, and ethics.

Judicial Training, September 2000. National Judicial Law College, American Bar Association, Administrative Law Fair Hearing course – specialized training for administrative law adjudicators, including decision writing, case load management, Alternative Dispute Resolution techniques in settling cases, applying the rules of evidence and procedure, determining witness and expert credibility, pre-hearing practice and case management techniques.
